A study in 2020 by Healthline shows that 73% of those who start a fitness and/or dietary goal will fail within 2 months. The study outlines a number of reasons linked to factors such as lack of knowledge on what to do; setting the bar too high; exceeding dietary requirements and a general fear of failure.
The crux of it is that the fitness world has been lying to you for years. Health Magazine covers and articles, spread across the press, portraying what you should look like, rather than how exercise should make you feel. In a world full of free advice, but with little to no substance, we are pulled from pillar-to-post with the next fad to hit town:
"Get shredded in 5 weeks and have the body of your dreams".
"Lose 2 stone in a week and eat what you want".
"Women eats cheesecake every day and still loses 2 pounds a week".
We call b******t. Plain and simple.
You see, when it comes to improving your physical, mental and nutritional health, then there is no finish line. To sustain such a balance then you need to make changes for life. You create new habits. Ones you love. Ones you can stick to. Ones that are sustainable.
Ultimately, you want changes that suit you, not the masses. Anyone can find the "cookie-cutter" plan that will fix everyone, but ultimately it doesn't!
